Delegation Attends Two Days “Here to Work Summit” in Washington, DC.

The Education Advocacy and Bridge Building team members Endy Mendez, Brandon Dockery, and Smita Sarkar attended a two-day “Here to Work Summit” in Washington DC, alongside thousands from across the US. The Summit was organized as an urgent call to action for President Biden to expand work authorization for long-term immigrants in the community, as we continue to advocate for a comprehensive immigration reform.

The first day was the Summit, where core advocacy issues were discussed, strategic plans made by team leaders, and time was spent networking and sharing resources. Day 2 was the Action Day where FaithAction, along with other agencies, went to Capitol Hill to speak to members of the Congress. Later that day, Greensboro delegation joined thousands from different states to speak and rally in support of work permits for all!

We would like to extend our gratitude to our partners, American Business Immigration Coalition (ABIC) and Carolina Migrant Network, for supporting and inviting our Greensboro delegation. We would also like to thank our partners, Latino Family Centre of Greater High Point, Pahola Burgess, Attorney at Law, Abogada Hispana, Asheboro Latinx Services, CWS immigrant fund and CNNC for strengthening the Greensboro delegation, and walking with our immigrant neighbors.
