Hundreds Of Community Members And Supporters Celebrate Faithaction’s Fall Festival: Viva La Herencia Hispana To Recognize The Meaningful Impact Of Hispanic Heritage In Our Community

The hurricane warning did not keep over 600 people and community partners from participating at the family festival on September 23, 2023 at the at the Westminster Presbyterian Church. FaithAction planned the event to be shortly after many Central American countries celebrate Independence Day, to celebrate the Hispanic heritage through  food, handicrafts, performances from different Latin American cultures, and through meaningful resources. There was an ID drive and an immigration clinic that provided free consultation. The Mexican and Guatemalan consulates were present to take queries of the families visiting.

We got 100 FaithAction IDs done. Officers from law enforcement like Sergeant Victor Sanchez, who helped start the FA ID was present at the drive to speak to members of the community and support the event. GPD Chief Thompson attended with his son.

The vendors and community partners were pleasantly surprised by the turnout. The performances were really well received!! The event was free to attend.

Luis, from Venezuela optimized his time talking to attendants at the resource table after getting his FaithAction ID done, and while waiting for his free immigration consultation. “I’ve never seen an event that’s been organized so well and has so many resources under one roof” he said. “A hurricane wouldn’t have kept me away from this,” he laughed.

We’d like to thank all our sponsors for their generous support in raising funds for the families we serve. Our highest level sponsors were A&G Superior Painting, Mountaire and Cone Health Foundation.
