FaithAction’s services and events could not take place without the heart and dedication of dozens of volunteers who share our calling to serve and advocate alongside our newest neighbors each year.  By volunteering, you help ensure that all residents have access to vital resources, moments to build community and connections, and opportunities to become self-sufficient.

Below you will see descriptions of each of the volunteering opportunities we presently offer.  To express interest, please fill out the web form at the bottom of this pace.  If the descriptions don’t exactly match what you’d like to explore with us, we can explore further individualizing a volunteering experience with us.

Opportunities to serve

Location: FaithAction International Office, Greensboro, NC
Commitment: Flexible,3-5 hours a week
Schedule: Shifts available Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend opportunities
Reports to: Immigrant Assistance Center Manager

Position Summary

FaithAction International is seeking dedicated Food Pantry Support Volunteers to assist with donation collection, pantry organization, and food distribution for our community members. Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring immigrant and refugee families have access to essential food, diapers, and hygiene products. This position offers hands-on opportunities to engage in community service, logistical support, and outreach.

Key Responsibilities

Collecting Food & Diapers

  • Organize donation drives, send donor outreach emails, and gather contributions.
  • Pick up food, diapers, and hygiene products from donors and partners.
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs with community supporters.

Organizing Pantry & Donations

  • Sort and categorize donated goods for efficient distribution.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper storage within the pantry.
  • Assist in setting up food distributions or client pick-ups.
  • Maintain pantry database to reflect actual inventory
  • Make suggestions and requests regarding pantry database

Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Regularly sanitize pantry equipment and storage areas.
  • Ensure safe handling of food items to meet health standards.
  • Check expiration dates and properly dispose of any expired or unsafe items.
  • Make trash runs as necessary to maintain cleanliness

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Passion for community service and food security initiatives.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Comfortable engaging with diverse communities and team members.
  • Spanish or bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
  • Must complete a short orientation, training session, and background check before starting.

Position Summary

FaithAction International is seeking Event Support & Outreach Volunteers to assist with the logistics, coordination, and execution of community events. Volunteers will play a key role in ensuring that events run smoothly by helping with setup, breakdown, guest coordination, and outreach. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working behind the scenes and out in the community to create meaningful experiences for immigrant and refugee communities.

Key Responsibilities

Event Setup & Logistics

  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including arranging tables, chairs, and signage.
  • Ensure event areas are clean and sanitized before, during, and after the event.
  • Transport donations and supplies to and from event locations as needed.

Guest & Crowd Management

  • Provide directions and assistance to attendees upon arrival.
  • Help with crowd control to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Make reminder calls to guests and participants prior to the event.

Outreach & Promotion

  • Pass out flyers and event invitations in the community.
  • Assist with social media sharing and email reminders for upcoming events.
  • Support development and fundraising efforts through event outreach.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Passion for community service and event coordination.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Comfortable interacting with diverse communities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Spanish or bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
  • Must complete a short orientation, training session, and background check before starting.

Position Summary

FaithAction International is seeking Office Support Volunteers to assist with organizational tasks, phone support, and event follow-up. Volunteers will play an essential role in keeping the office organized and running smoothly after events, while also providing support with communications and client engagement. This position is ideal for detail-oriented individuals who enjoy behind-the-scenes work that keeps operations efficient.

Key Responsibilities

Office Organization & Event Follow-Up

  • Reorganize office spaces after community events, ensuring a clean and functional workspace.
  • Sort and restock supplies in the office and supply closet.
  • Assist in keeping shared areas tidy, sanitized, and well-maintained.

Phone & Front Desk Support

  • Answer phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Assist with taking messages and providing basic information to callers.
  • Make reminder calls to clients or event attendees as needed.

Guest & Crowd Management

  • Support crowd control in the office during high-traffic times.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to visitors upon arrival.
  • Ensure a welcoming and organized environment for staff, clients, and volunteers.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Passion for community service and office administration.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Comfortable interacting with diverse communities in an office setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs. and organize supplies effectively.
  • Spanish or bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
  • Must complete a short orientation, training session, and background check before starting.

Location: FaithAction International Office, Greensboro, NC; Virtual Cloud Meeting (Zoom)
Commitment: Flexible, based on availability
Schedule: As needed for client and staff support
Reports to: Immigrant Assistance Center Manager

Responsibilities

  • Provide interpretation over the phone or in person.
  • Assist with document translation for clients and staff.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong communication and accuracy in interpretation and translation.
  • Must complete a short orientation and training session before starting.
